You are on the Great Ocean Road with an opportunity to enjoy riding in the Great Otway National Park and on the beaches.

Show consideration and courtesy for other people and families on the beach. There is a lot of pressure to reduce riding on the beaches. Please follow these basic guide lines when riding:

These are the conditions under which horse riding is permitted on the Fairhaven Foreshore between Painkalac Creek & Spout Creek.
They are designed to allow everyone to enjoy the beach.

  • Horse riding only permitted 2 hours either side of low tide
  • Horses to be kept to a walk within 50 m of other beach users
  • No beginners to be allowed on beach rides
  • Approved beach access points to be used :
  1. Opposite Old Coach Road at Moggs Creek (not the boardwalk)
  2. Emergency road East of Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club
  3. "Hirstís track" west of the GOR Memorial Arch (occasionally)
  4. Moggs Creek access not to be used when the creek is full, or when beach users will be disturbed
  • Stay on or below the wet tide line. Never take horses into the dunes
